Greetings and welcome to the official website of the Illustrious Iota Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® is an international service organization that was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D. C. in 1908. It is the first and oldest Greek-letter organization established by African American college-educated women. Chartered in December 1922, Iota Omega is the ninth graduate chapter formed in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, and the second oldest chapter in the Mid-Atlantic Region encompassing Virginia and North Carolina. As the 43rd president of Iota Omega Chapter, it is my privilege to welcome you to our website. Our chapter is home to over 150 college-educated, professional women who are involved and active members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sisterhood. Iota Omega’s “Service To All Mankind” has an antiquity of success in delivering exceptional service through award winning programs which are precast on five basic tenets that have remained unchanged since the sorority’s inception more than a 111 years ago. We are enthusiastically engaged in executing the 2018-2022 International Program “Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service℠” under the leadership of our International President, Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover. Our five program targets and one Signature Program will guide us in advancing the mission of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority: HBCU For Life: A Call to Action, Signature Program-#CAP℠, Women's Health and Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, The Arts and Global Impact. We are proud of our 97 year legacy of service to all mankind and to the residents of Norfolk, Virginia home of Naval Station Norfolk, the world's largest naval base.
